Sports and Relaxation in the south of "Allgäu"

Summer

Close by, you will find the start of the Buchenberg lift.  The chair lift takes you high up to the summit of the Buchenberg.  From there, you can enjoy the view over the near mountain chains, and breathe in deeply over the wonderful scenery.

For walkers, the Halblech offers, along its relatively short length of 15 km., during which it falls 750 m., a wonderfully natural wilderness and beauty. The bird watching station where the river runs into the Lechsee, is a crowning glory.

Apart from this, the region many hiking and mountain walking paths, Nordic walking tracks, cycling and mountain bike paths, and climbing routes.  Nearby, there are also many lakes, for example, the Forggensee, Bannwaldsee, Hegatsriedsee, Illasbergsee etc.  Here, there is no limit to leisure fun.  Every need is covered here, whether it is for swimming, surfing, angling, boat or steamer trips. The Alp open air swimming pool in Trauchgau, the next village, with its heated pool, fun pool, playground, skating track, and sunbathing meadow, offers fun for all the family, as does the nearby mini-golf course.

Hang-gliders and parachutists can very quickly reach the nearby Tegelberg.

Winter

Most of the summer swimming lakes are, in winter, available for ice skating and curling.

The entrances to the free cross-country skiing and skating trails are almost outside our house.

For downhill skiers and snowboarders, there are many varied pists on the Buchenberg and Tegelberg. A genial experience is the floodlit sledge run, from Buchenberg down to the valley.

The deer feeding is an impressive show for young and old.  We would be very pleased to organise a horse drawn sleigh or coach ride for you.

Culture and Experiences

The Bavarian royal castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are only 9 km. away, and easy to reach by car or bus.  This trip also offers the chance to visit the newly opened museum of the Bavarian kings.

For families, the Schongau Fairytale World and Animal Park offer an unforgettable experience.

The Forest Experience Centre near Füssen is most educational.  This trip of about 13 km. is easy to combine with a stroll through the mediaeval town centre itself, with its castle and St. Mang monastery.

There is a collection of goods which formerly lightened the daily life of the region in the Trauchgau Village museum.

The evening entertainments in our village are as much part of the tradition as the annual Limeburners fete in August, and the big Buching cattle market in September.
